Just before winter last year in 2021 there was an influx of displaced families pouring into Herat Province from neighboring provinces with no food or shelter. Hundreds of families with kids, elderly and sick living in dire conditions with no shelter, food, or water. With winter Fast approaching we initiated a project called “Afghan Winter Crises Campaign”.
Zara Initiative was able to set up a makeshift camp for almost 100 families. They were provided Emergency shelter for the winter months, daily food and water, classes were arranged for the kids where they learned basic literacy and developed the motivation towards going to school, basic health especially for the kids, heating including blankets and clothing, and sanitation.
