Village of Hope is dedicated to empowering widowed women in Herat, Afghanistan through meaningful, dignified employment. By creating sustainable livelihoods through the processing and packaging of premium Afghan saffron, we enable women to build economic independence while preserving a cherished local craft. Herat is globally recognized for producing some of the world’s highest-quality saffron, awarded for excellence for ten consecutive years and renowned for its vibrant color, rich aroma, and exceptional purity.

This program not only provides a valuable skill set but also empowers these women by giving them a sense of purpose and financial independence. These women have committed themselves fully to this training, working diligently and full-time to create beautiful, high-quality, handwoven rugs, which are not just functional pieces; they are works of art, each one a reflection of the dedication and personal journey of the women who weave them.
Our program focuses on creating high-quality prayer rugs and decorative pieces, designed for both adults and children. Each rug tells a unique story, serving as a testament to the experiences, hopes, and dreams of the woman who wove it. These rugs carry more than just craftsmanship; they carry the spirit of resilience and strength, deeply connecting the creator to the piece and offering a powerful message of empowerment.
